Our Founder’s Story continued…
I revisited my gynecologist to have another test, and jumped for joy when she told me that my pap smear came back normal, and that the two fibroids embedded in my uterus were gone. Now, of course, I didn't even know about the fibroids, but that's another story. I visited a different OB-GYN specialist who was covered under my dad's HMO for further testing, and was relieved when I received the same results, no cancer. Finally, I wanted to get tested by a specialist in Savannah, GA who came highly recommended. The doctor didn't honor HMOs, so I took out a small student loan to pay for the examination. Following my visit with him, he mailed me my results stating that I had one of the healthiest reproductive systems he had ever seen in all his years of practice.
Nine years later, I am healthier than I have been in my entire life. One of my purposes in life now is to make sure no one goes through what I went through in dealing with the medical society. (Written April 17, 2000)
