Our Founders Story continued
The day I walked into his office was perhaps the scariest day of my life. I went through every humiliating procedure a woman in this position could go through. Finally, the testing was complete, and I waited for what seemed like hours for my results. When the doctor came into my room, he had a nonchalant attitude. He plopped down on his chair and exhaled a big sigh as he opened my folder. "Miss El," he said, "I have some good news and some bad news. "Which one do you want first?"
At this point, I was in no mood to play with this man. I instructed him to tell me my results so I could move on and make some decisions. "OK, here goes. The bad news is that you have Cervical Cancer. The good news is that the cancer is in a stage where we can get rid of it before it spreads." He explained, "You have a choice of either receiving chemotherapy treatments or having you cervix removed. Which treatment should I schedule you for?"
A moment of silence filled the room as I contemplated the decision. Suddenly, it all hit me at once- I HAVE CANCER!
