Reiki
The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words "rei" meaning Universal Spirit" and "ki" meaning "Life force energy. Reiki is a laying on hands technique. The beginnings this ancient healing art allegedly dates back to a technique used by Tibetan Monks in their spiritual practice.
Reiki was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist in the late 1800’s. During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner holds in their mind a "Yantra" or healing symbol that focuses the life flow energy that flows through the practitioner and place their hands in specific positions which facilitate the flow of energy into the recipients body. The channeled energies flow into the recipient through the open "chakra" centers in the practitioner’s hands, and the Reiki healing energies go directly into the areas of the body where they are needed.
Reiki healing energies can also be directed through the
eyes of the practitioner by gazing at the recipient and focusing on the
intention of Reiki being sent to the recipient. Long distance healing is
possible through the use of a surrogate. The practitioner will place their
hands on the body of the surrogate and focusing on directing the healing
energies to the desired recipient of them. This technique is amazingly effective.
You can give yourself a Reiki treatment by simply placing your hands on the
body part and sending Reiki to it. Reiki is gentle, yet powerful.
Because Reiki is truly channeled "life force energy” animals and plants can benefit from a Reiki treatment as well. Reiki energies can be directed to a future event in which you may have tension or fear about in a very similar fashion. By bringing the event to mind, focusing on the symbols and sending Reiki energy to it. A healing is received by all and the event seems to go much smoother, communication is improved and it is generally a lighter situation overall.
